Putting the Cart Before the Horse: A reflection post week 4.

Project Progress
Contrary to advice from our instructors and tutors we immediately began our project and app research by digging deep into reasons why we thought the app was garbage. Namely, we were identifying “pain points” that potentially overlooked the research or intentions of the apps designers did to begin with. I personally realized we didn’t have the complete picture during our presentation when we could not succinctly present what the entire purpose of the app served, its customer base, and why it had just completed a “app-renovation”. Our goal going forward will be to focus more on getting a better idea of what AIA’s app design process was like and if there is any information that we can gather past the initial view of the consumer. My goal is to attempt to reach out to the developer and ask to gather some insight into the app construction based on our ongoing academic work.
Last Weeks Blog Post
This weeks blog post I have changed the format to be more of a reflection based publication than a news or statement based blog post. The entire blog post format has made me feel more in touch with in class material because it is forcing me to develop real world connections with topics covered in class.
Looking Ahead
I am looking forward to getting to know the PENCIL platform better as well as attend my first design events!! I am thinking more and more about our cryostar in class challenge and am thinking of ways to solve the initial problem given the new clues and context regarding how the user would “interact” and what is actually involved in putting liquefied natural gas into a commercial/industrial vehicle.
